# Controller A USB08_8G function qualification — 2026-07-29

## Scope

- Controller: A, J-Link `69664082`
- USB drive: `USB08_8G`
- Diagnostic firmware S-record SHA-256:
  `3958AC3A56075139B6D0AAB3D4DCB439A581FA1C47F4433835FE801B69B5AC87`
- SD identity captured with every harness sample:
  `035344535330384780976F0084018559`
- Raw captures:
  `work/evidence/hpt-log-store-circular-mirror/controller-a/usb08-functions-20260729`

## Results

| Function | Result | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Initial enumeration and mount | Pass | Storage stage `9`, mount status `0`, application acceptance mask `15`, `usb_mounted=1` |
| WAV directory/read | Pass | `W00.wav` and `W01.wav` enumerated |
| WAV load | Pass | Progress reached `1000`; mount retained; zero system errors |
| Sound 1 trigger | Pass at controller-state level | Trigger accepted and audio state returned to idle; no independent audible observation |
| PID capture | Pass at controller-state level | Trigger accepted; mount retained and zero system errors; harness does not enumerate PID output files |
| IMX image save | Fail | Wrote 8,388,864 bytes in 257 calls, then failed at progress step `12` / 90% with `FX_IO_ERROR (0x90)` during finalization; no update file was published |
| IMX image update | Not run | Image save did not produce the required `7520553_SMI_00_05_00.imx`; running update without a valid input would not be a valid test |
| USB-port power cycle/remount | Fail | Port stop, power down, and power on returned success; host/FileX re-enumerated successfully, but application acceptance remained `11` and `usb_mounted=0` after an additional 20 seconds |
| Controller reset recovery | Pass | After reset, acceptance returned to `15`, `usb_mounted=1`, WAV files visible, and system errors remained zero |

## Disposition

`USB08_8G` is compatible with Controller A for boot-time enumeration, read,
WAV-load, and playback-trigger workflows on the corrected diagnostic firmware.
It does not pass the full USB function suite: image-save finalization returns
`FX_IO_ERROR`, and USB-only power cycling does not restore the application
mount handoff. The controller was left in a stable post-reset state with
`USB08_8G` mounted. These failures are drive/workflow compatibility evidence;
they do not justify attempting image update.
