# Checklist: Controller B complete USB feature regression with Raspberry Pi verification

Identity note (2026-07-29): historical label `B-CTRL` is permanent specimen
`USB01_2G`; serial `_USB_DISK_2.0-0:0`.

Status: complete
Type: checklist
Updated: 2026-08-01
Next Action: none; Controller A successor parity qualification is complete
Parent: work/maps/map-smi-firmware-stabilization-and-qualification.md
Canonical Truth: docs/firmware-update-validation-and-recovery.md and docs/sd-card-operation-and-recovery.md

## Goal

Prove every active Controller B USB mass-storage workflow on bounded-write
candidate `486B048B...F170CCF9`, with independent Raspberry Pi filesystem and
content verification. Minimize operator work to physical stick moves and the
HMI-only HPT export confirmation.

## Checklist

- [x] Run USB static/model gates and record the exact S-record hash.
- [x] Raspberry Pi scan confirms the 2 GB `B-CTRL`, its canonical WAV hashes, clean FAT,
  and no mount before handoff.
- [x] Capture Controller B baseline state, SD CID, configuration/system health,
audio table, and four-MiB internal-flash hash.
- [x] Use the already-mounted 2 GB `B-CTRL`; no initial operator move required.
- [x] Confirm mount and strict discovery of exactly `W00.wav` and `W01.wav`.
- [x] Load WAV set; verify QSPI tables, zero USB/system errors, playback, and
  persistence after reset.
- [x] Save the current `.imx`; verify exact size, publication telemetry, and
  single discoverable release filename.
- [x] Apply that same-version `.imx`; verify reboot, exact internal-flash hash,
SD CID, configuration/system health, and audio persistence.
- [x] Publish PID tuning text and verify successful terminal state.
- [x] Operator runs the HMI HPT export once; capture request-specific
PUBLISHED/COMPLETE, 16 KiB write cap, readback/sync/STOP, and zero gaps.
- [x] Operator moves the 2 GB `B-CTRL` back to Pi once.
- [x] Run read-only FAT check and verify WAV, IMX, PID, and CSV names, sizes,
hashes/structure, completion trailer, and absence of temporary files.
- [x] Record compact evidence and leave Controller B healthy with no USB
mounted; defer Controller A upgrade until every B gate passes.

## Verification

Raw captures remain under the ignored Controller B `generated/` evidence
tree. The compact result manifest records firmware/media identities, hashes,
workflow telemetry, operator observations, and final Pi scan.
