# Controller A third power-cut attempt disposition

Status: invalid physical attempt; armed hold survived the intended power cycle
Type: evidence
Updated: 2026-07-23
Next Action: require physical removal of the J-Link target cable for the next armed attempt
Campaign Reason: Historical record from campaign 013-close-hpt-media-2-initial-release-qualification; retained independently after campaign closure and requires no separate owner-queue execution.
Campaign: standalone

## Disposition

The harness reached `HOLDING_CUT_POWER` at the
data-durable-before-commit boundary on Controller A `1751136`. Sequence `210`
was the last acknowledged setup record and sequence `211` was the interrupted
record.

The operator used the same timed power sequence that had just passed the
RAM-only witness: J-Link power off, 10-second wait, Controller A power off,
30 seconds with both unpowered, Controller A boot with J-Link off, and later
J-Link power-up. Several minutes after controller power-on, the display showed
`SD card is not installed`.

Read-only capture while that warning was visible found:

- diagnostic command still `0x48504331`;
- diagnostic state still `HOLDING_CUT_POWER`;
- diagnostic block-device wrapper still installed;
- public SD state still the harness's intentional `UNAVAILABLE`;
- HPT media and store healthy with all three lanes;
- media generation 4; and
- next sequence still 211, so the interrupted record was not committed while
  held.

The automatic post-cut gate rejected the attempt. The warning was not a raw-HPT
classification failure; it was the live armed-hold state. This conflicts with
the immediately preceding RAM-only witness, which did clear through startup
using the reported power sequence. The powered-off but still attached J-Link
target cable is therefore not a repeatable isolation method for an armed
qualification boundary, regardless of why its behavior differs under hold.

The hold was cancelled after capture. The freshly powered probe needed a
settling interval between remote sessions before the cancel write was accepted.
Cancellation restored normal device ownership and `RAW_HPT`. Final read-only
status showed HPT/SSP status zero, 8 queued and 8 completed records, zero drops,
and normal logging advanced through next sequence 216. Cancellation allowed
sequence 211 to commit, so no recovery qualification may be run from this
attempt.

The next armed attempt must physically remove the J-Link target/SWD cable from
Controller A before controller power is removed. Powering the probe off alone
is no longer accepted for the armed qualification.
