# Control B SMI candidate load

Status: passed; EDGE card requires SMI format before autonomous soak
Type: evidence
Updated: 2026-07-16
Next Action: operator formats the expendable EDGE card with service code 471, then starts service code 474
Campaign Reason: Historical record from campaign 009-complete-clean-contract-bound-a-b-qualification; retained independently after campaign closure and requires no separate owner-queue execution.
Campaign: standalone
Parent: work/inventories/smi-setup-b.md

The owner connected Control B/controller `1751136`, identified the installed
firmware as TestDSP, and explicitly directed installation of the validated SMI
candidate. J-Link V9 serial `69664082` captured the complete pre-load program
flash, VEEPROM, option memory, and RAM before mutation.

Debug S-record SHA-256
`305DA34770B81DEC2528521A28FEDCAF0BFE70818070C3C9C535A07ADC22FF7D`
programmed and verified successfully. On first boot, SMI correctly rejected the
foreign TestDSP VEEPROM layout, constructed clean SMI defaults, and committed
generation 1 with the current schema/fingerprint.

Live post-load status was power-on `0xC00000FF`, RTC fallback 2026-07-01, SD
state Ready, FileX last status zero, configuration operational, findings zero,
commissioning required, factory-default startup event set, and soak state Idle.
The installed EDGE card returned `FX_NOT_FOUND` for the SMI format marker, so it
must be formatted through service code 471 before service code 474 can start.
